SEND Consultancy for Schools, Trusts and International Education Settings

Practical SEND Consultancy That Delivers Meaningful Change

At The Support School, we understand that inclusion is not simply about meeting statutory requirements. Effective SEND provision is about creating environments where every learner can thrive, staff feel confident in meeting diverse needs and leaders have systems that drive sustainable improvement.

Dr Andy Hogg is an experienced SEND specialist, former Inclusion Manager, Assistant Headteacher and international education consultant. We provide specialist consultancy services to schools, Multi-Academy Trusts and international schools seeking to strengthen inclusive practice and improve outcomes for learners with additional needs. Due to Andy's role with Shaping Lives, the UK's specialist provider of early years and education apprenticeships, all aspects of our SEND consultancy for UK based schools, will be delivered via Shaping Lives, but with the same input you would have from TSS.

With more than 30 years of experience across mainstream, specialist and international education, we offer practical, evidence-informed support tailored to the unique needs of each organisation.

Services for Schools

Schools face increasing challenges in supporting learners with Special Educational Needs and Disabilities whilst managing limited resources, growing demand and rising accountability expectations.

Our SEND consultancy services help schools build capacity, improve provision and develop confidence across all levels of the organisation.

We work with:

  • Primary schools

  • Secondary schools

  • Special schools

  • Alternative Provision settings

  • Independent schools

  • Early Years settings

Support can be delivered online or through onsite visits.

SEND Audits

Understanding current strengths and identifying priorities for development is often the first step towards meaningful improvement.

Our SEND audits provide an independent evaluation of provision and may include:

  • Review of SEND systems and processes

  • Evaluation of SEND policies and procedures

  • Analysis of intervention programmes

  • Review of pupil progress data

  • Learning walks and observations

  • Staff and stakeholder consultation

  • Examination of statutory compliance

  • Review of SEND leadership structures

Schools receive a detailed report outlining strengths, areas for development and practical recommendations for improvement.

A SEND audit can help leaders understand where provision is effective and where changes may be required to improve outcomes for learners.

Inclusion Reviews

An inclusive school culture extends beyond SEND provision alone.

Our Inclusion Reviews examine how effectively schools support all learners, including those with:

  • SEND

  • Social, emotional and mental health needs

  • English as an Additional Language (EAL)

  • Disadvantaged backgrounds

  • Attendance challenges

  • Behavioural needs

The review considers:

  • Classroom practice

  • Quality First Teaching

  • Intervention effectiveness

  • Learner engagement

  • Behaviour systems

  • Leadership and accountability

  • Learning environments

The outcome is a clear, practical roadmap designed to strengthen inclusion and improve outcomes across the school community.

Staff Training and Professional Development

High-quality staff development is essential if inclusive practice is to become embedded across a school.

We provide bespoke training for:

  • Teachers

  • Teaching Assistants

  • SENDCOs

  • Senior Leaders

  • Governors and Trustees

Popular training topics include:

  • Understanding SEND

  • ADHD in the classroom

  • Autism and inclusive practice

  • EHCP implementation

  • Inclusive classroom environments

  • Cognitive profiling and learner differences

Training is tailored to the needs of individual schools and can be delivered as twilight sessions, INSET days or longer-term professional development programmes.

Access Arrangements and Exam Support

Access Arrangements play a vital role in ensuring learners can demonstrate their knowledge fairly and effectively.

Schools often find the process complex and time-consuming.

We can support schools through:

  • Review of Access Arrangements procedures

  • Identification of learners requiring assessment

  • Staff training and awareness

  • Examination of evidence requirements

  • Support with compliance and documentation

  • Strategic planning for examination access

Our aim is to help schools establish robust systems that support learners whilst meeting regulatory requirements.
